🚨 NID 2026 DATES OUT! Major Pattern Changes + Official Handbook Download
The NID 2026 Exam has officially been announced — bringing major pattern changes that every design aspirant needs to know. For the first time, the B.Des Prelims will act only as a qualifying round, with final selections based solely on the Mains. The M.Des pattern has also been revised, giving more weight to the Studio Test and Interview. The NID DAT Prelims 2026 will be held on 21st December 2025, with registrations open from 11th September to 1st December 2025. The new official handbooks for both B.Des and M.Des programs are now available on admissions.nid.edu , outlining the updated syllabus, exam structure, and eligibility details.

Application start: 11 September 2025.
Last date to apply: 1 December 2025.
Admit card for Prelims: approx 11 December 2025.
DAT Prelims exam date: 21 December 2025.
DAT Mains & further stages: planned for early 2026 (April/May) for B.Des; specific dates for M.Des to be announced
📝 Major Pattern Changes for 2026
For the B.Des programme, Prelims now act only as a qualifying stage with no weightage in final selection; the final selection is based entirely on the Mains.
For the M.Des programme: Prelims weightage changed (lowered), and higher importance is given to the Studio Test + Interview in the Mains stage.
The syllabus has been updated: more emphasis on digital design awareness, sustainability, scenario-based problems, and hands-on studio tasks.
