The NIFT 2026 Exam is the national-level entrance test for admission into India’s premier design institutes — the National Institutes of Fashion Technology (NIFTs). It opens pathways to top undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Fashion Design, Technology, and Management across 19 campuses nationwide.
The exam is expected to be conducted in February 2026, with registrations starting in November 2025. It includes two stages — the GAT (General Ability Test) and the CAT (Creative Ability Test), followed by a Situation Test or Personal Interview for shortlisted candidates.
Eligibility:
For B.Des and B.F.Tech, candidates must have passed 10+2 (any recognized board) and be under 24 years of age.
For PG courses (M.Des, M.F.Tech, M.F.M), a recognized bachelor’s degree is required, with no age limit.
Seats:
NIFT offers around 4,800 seats across its campuses, with reservations for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS, and PwD categories as per government norms.
Fee Structure:
The application fee is approximately ₹3,000 for General/OBC/EWS and ₹1,500 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
The total course fee for B.Des programs is around ₹14–15 lakhs for four years, varying by campus.
NIFT is known for its creative environment, industry exposure, and career-oriented programs. The 2026 admission cycle is expected to be handled by NTA (National Testing Agency) with improved digital infrastructure and transparency.
